The wait is over: this weekend sees the 17th edition of the Dolomitencup take place in Neumarkt (South Tyrol). Spectacle is guaranteed.
Summer took a short breather in July, but now it’s back with a vengeance. In short: it’s hot again in South Tyrol. But not in the Würtharena in Neumarkt. The pretty ice arena is not only a welcome oasis from the cold these days, but also the place where spectacular ice hockey is on offer from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 August. The 17th edition of the Dolomitencup is just around the corner! With HC Davos (Switzerland), Rögle BK (Sweden), the Augsburger Panther (Germany) and Dynamo Pardubice (Czech Republic), four high-calibre teams have found their way to Neumarkt.
The prestigious preparation tournament kicks off on Friday evening at 8 p.m. with the first semi-final, in which HC Davos and Rögle BK meet. This is a duel to make your tongue click. Davos are the Swiss record champions, a legend in European ice hockey with all kinds of popular players in their ranks, including Andres Ambühl, a legend in Swiss sport. Rögle BK has nothing to hide, because with the 2022 Champions League title, the Swedes have risen to become a top address in European ice hockey. High tempo, iron toughness, creative styles of play – fans can look forward to all of this.
No less interesting is the second semi-final, which takes place on Saturday evening at 8pm. Two old acquaintances, the Augsburg Panthers and Dynamo Pardubice, will meet there. The Panthers have long been a cult club in Neumarkt and are taking part in the Dolomitencup for the tenth time. The DEL club has already won the cup five times. Once again this year, the numerous Augsburg fans can look forward to turning the Würtharena into a cauldron. Dynamo Pardubice quickly played their way into the hearts of the spectators last year and promptly won the title on their first participation. Can the traditional Czech club repeat this feat this year?
As always, the big final day is on Sunday. The small final will be played at 3.45 pm before the big final for the Dolomitencup starts at 8 pm. Tickets are still available for all three days. The matches will also be broadcast live on the internet.
