The ice hockey seasons may be over almost everywhere, but preparations for the upcoming winter are in full swing. This also applies to the Dolomitencup in Neumarkt/South Tyrol, which will begin in exactly two months’ time.
The mercury on the thermometer is soaring, one sun lounger follows the next in the swimming pools and the days seem to go on forever. Yes, the height of summer in South Tyrol is approaching with every passing hour – and with it the ice hockey-free season? No, by no means! Because even in the warmer months of the year, ice hockey fever is rampant in South Tyrol, or more precisely in Egna/Neumarkt. From August 15 to 17 – exactly two months from now – the 19th edition of the Dolomitencup will take place in the Würtharena.
Preparations for the prestigious preparatory tournament are in full swing, as ice hockey fans from all over Europe will once again dock in the south of South Tyrol this year. They don’t want to miss out on this ice hockey treat: With the Czech runners-up Dynamo Pardubice, the DEL club Löwen Frankfurt, the Norwegian record champions Vålerenga Ishockey and cult club EV Landshut from the second German league, four teams with big names will be coming to Neumarkt.
The Dolomitencup opens on Friday, August 15 at 8 p.m. with the first semi-final between Dynamo Pardubice and EV Landshut, followed the next day at the same time by the Löwen Frankfurt and Vålerenga Ishockey. Sunday, August 17th is the final day – with the match for third place starting at 3:45 pm and the grand final starting at 8 pm. A large number of spectators are expected again this year, and the Würtharena is expected to be filled to the last seat. Tickets are still available for the prestigious preparatory tournament in Neumarkt.
